Merchant & Mills, The Paynter Jacket PDF Pattern

Paynter Jacket Co. makes limited edition jackets four times a year that are made to order, so there's no waste from over production. Their jackets are classic pieces that will stand the test of time and get better with age. The Field Jacket is Paynter's first make-your-own jacket pattern in collaboration with Merchant & Mills.

This is a digital PDF pattern that includes Merchant & Mills unisex sizes XS-XXL. If you would like a traditional paper version of this pattern, go here. 

Skill Level: Advanced. (Merchant & Mills has a blog post here, that shows you how to change the hip pocket to a patch pocket, this makes it an easier sew and also means you go through slightly less layers so you could use a thicker fabric.)

For sizing, finished garment measurements, and fabric requirements see the charts in photos. For sizing, Merchant & Mills recommends checking the finished measurements against a jacket that you like the fit of.

Fabric Suggestions: Light to medium weight wovens up to 8oz, cotton twills, denim, wool and dry oilskin. There are 9 layers to sew through during the pocket construction, so check the fabric you choose can be accommodated by your sewing machine.

You'll Also Need:

• Matching thread (3x 100m reels) plus more for overlocking
• 13x 2cm/¾" buttons
• 4x 1.2-1.5cm/½” buttons
• 0.8m/1yd interfacing
• 10cm/¼yd lightweight cotton for pocket flap tabs, if using heavy fabric

When you purchase this pattern, you can download the PDF files from the order confirmation screen. You will also receive an email from SendOwl with a link to download the pattern. 

To receive a printed copy of this PDF pattern, select “Digital PDF Pattern + Large Format Printing.” We'll print the pattern out on our large format printer ($3.50/page). We are happy to ship the pattern to you or set it aside for in store pickup. Your pattern will be folded for shipping or rolled for local pickup. 

We do not print pattern instructions, only the large format pattern pages. You can print the instructions at home on US printer paper if you'd like (or just view them from your device).
