Sew the Blomma Tank by Paradise Patterns—a comfortable, everyday wardrobe staple that's the perfect introduction to sewing with knit fabrics. With its clean finish and approachable construction, this project is ideal for anyone looking to build confidence working with stretch fabrics or refine their knit sewing techniques.

Don't let knit fabrics intimidate you! This pattern is surprisingly beginner-friendly, and much of the construction can be completed using a regular sewing machine with a standard straight stitch. No serger or specialty threads are required, making this an accessible class for sewists who want to expand their skills without investing in additional equipment.

Throughout the class, you'll learn techniques for handling knit fabrics with confidence while creating a versatile tank you'll want to sew again and again.

What You'll Learn:

  • The fundamentals of sewing knit fabrics on a regular sewing machine
  • Tips for cutting, handling, and stabilizing stretch fabrics
  • How to achieve clean, professional-looking finishes using standard polyester thread
  • Techniques for attaching knit bands and creating a polished neckline and armholes
  • Skills that can be applied to future knit garment projects

Skill Level: Beginner. You need to be able to sew a straight line, back tack, sew a zig zag, thread & unjam your machine, and wind your bobbin. The equivalent of taking our “Meet Your Machine” class.

Class Fee: The cost of this class is $120 which includes the printed PDF pattern and use of all classroom tools.

Class Schedule & Homework: This is a two-week class, meeting Mondays August 17 & 24 from 6-8PM.

Sizing & Fabric Requirements: The Blomma Tank is available in an inclusive size range, fitting bust measurements from 28"–60" and hip measurements from 34"–62". See the chart in photos for detailed sizing information & fabric requirements.

What to Bring:

  • Rib knit fabric (yardage requirements in photos)
  • Matching polyester thread for construction

This pattern is designed specifically for rib knit fabrics, which provide the stretch and recovery needed for the best fit and easiest construction. Choosing a different type of knit may produce different results and make the sewing process more challenging. Lakes Makerie carries a selection of rib knits, and we'll be happy to help you choose the perfect fabric for your project.

Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 4 students to hold the class (if we're not able to run this class you'll be refunded). If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will receive store credit.
