Class: Reversible Napkins with Sarah (Beginner Friendly!), Friday October 3, 2-5PM
Want to make friends with a sewing machine? These reversible napkins are the easiest project we know, so they're the perfect project to start with. Cloth napkins are super useful, environmentally friendly, and make great gifts.
Skill Level: This is an absolute beginner class. No prior sewing machine experience is required!
What You’ll Learn:
- How to sew straight and back tack to secure your seams
- How to pivot/turn corners
- Basic topstitching
Class Fee: The cost of this class is $80.
Fabric Recommandations: Any medium weight 100% cotton/quilting cotton, Essex cotton-linen blend, Nara Homespun or Kasuri Japanese cotton, Fableism cottons.
What to Bring:
- 1 1/8 yards each of 2 fabrics (2 1/4 yards in total) of light/medium-weight woven fabric. This will make 4 napkins. Please select and prewash your fabric prior to coming to class.
- Coordinating or contrasting thread (1 spool of Gutermann recycled polyester is what we recommend)
- Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.). Bringing your own machine is encouraged, but studio machines are available—please reach out to info@lakemakerie.com to reserve one after you register for class. Machines are limited.
-
Basic tools (such as pins, marking tools, etc.) are provided in our studio for students. We do recommend that you bring your own pair of fabric scissors if you have them.
