
Class: Learn to Make & Apply Bias Binding with Sarah, Thursday October 2, 5:30-8PM
Bias binding makes such a nice, neat finish for raw edges, from necklines and armscyes on garments to the insides of bags or even the edges of home goods like washcloths and placemats! In this class we'll show you our tricks for making bias binding and the different ways you can apply it. Upgrade your seam finishes to the next level-- who says the inside of your project can't be just as pretty as the outside? ;)
Skill Level: This is an advancing beginner class. You need to be have sewn a garment, quilt, bag or participated in a beginner sewing class prior to this class and feel comfortable using your machine.
What You'll Learn:
- How to make continuous binding bias using a fat quarter
- Multiple ways to apply bias binding to finish a seam
- Practice applying binding on scraps
Class Fee: The cost of this class is $77.50. The cost of instruction is $65 and the materials fee (required) is $12.50 and includes a Liberty of London fat quarter that you'll use to make your bias tape and scrap materials for practice applying it.
What to Bring:
- A 25mm/1 inch double fold bias tape maker. If you don't have one already, you can get one here!
- An acrylic ruler*
- A sharp pair of fabric scissors or rotary cutter with mat*

Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.). Bringing your own machine is encouraged, but studio machines are available—please reach out to info@lakesmakerie.com to reserve one after you register for class. Machines are limited.
*If you don’t have these, you're welcome to use our classroom tools, but supplies are limited and you might have to wait to use them.
Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 4 students to hold the class (if we're not able to run this class you'll be refunded). If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will receive store credit.
