Make your own Merchant & Mills Workaday Apron — a traditional, unisex apron designed for everyday use and industrious demands.

In this one-session class, we’ll walk through cutting, sewing, and assembling your apron from start to finish. You’ll learn techniques for working with heavier fabrics, sewing pockets, and attaching ties securely.

You can choose from canvas or denim for a classic workwear look, or soft tumbled linen or cotton for an apron you’ll want to wear daily around the house. The finished measurements are approximately 38" long (not including straps) and 33½" wide at the widest point.

Come sew with us and leave with an apron that’s ready for cooking, crafting, or creating!

Skill Level: Beginner. You need to be able to sew a straight line, back tack, sew a zig zag, thread & unjam your machine, and wind your bobbin. The equivalent of taking our “Meet Your Machine” class.

Class Fee: The cost of this class is $122. The cost of instruction is $100 and the materials fee (required) is $22 and includes the printed PDF pattern.

Fabric Recommendations: Cotton-linen canvas, Indigo denim (6.5 oz or 8 oz), Railroad denim, Kokka Oxford cotton, linen & linen blends, Merchant & Mills European linen

What to Bring:

  • 1.5 yards of fabric of your choice
  • Coordinating or contrasting thread.
  • Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.). Bringing your own machine is encouraged, but studio machines are available—please reach out to info@lakemakerie.com to reserve one after you register for class. Machines are limited.
