Join us to sew the Coe Trousers by Daughter Judy—a sculptural, modern pant that feels relaxed but never sloppy. High-waisted with a side seam that wraps slightly forward, the Coe creates a subtle architectural shape through the leg that makes them effortlessly cool. These are the trousers that become the main character of your outfit—the pair you reach for again and again.

What You'll Learn:

  • Installing a waistband
  • Inserting a zipper fly
  • Pocket construction
  • Professional seam finishes and pressing techniques
  • Constructing the unique forward-wrapping side seam

Skill Level: Advancing beginner or intermediate sewists. You need to have sewn a garment, quilt, bag or participated in a beginner sewing class prior to this class and feel comfortable using your machine.

Sizing & Fabric Requirements: Go here for detailed sizing, finished garment, and fabric requirements charts.

What to Bring:

  • Main fabric (yardage requirements in photos)
  • 1/2 yard medium weight cotton fabric for pocket lining
  • Thread
  • 7” jean zipper (We have a great option available in the shop)
  • 1 button for waistband closure
  • 1/2 yard light weight interfacing
  • Jeans sewing machine needles
  • Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.)
  • We recommend that you bring your own fabric scissors
  • Any other sewing tools you like to use at home!

Fabric Recommendations: We recommend structured but workable fabrics such as mid-weight twill, cotton canvas (not overly heavy), denim under 10–12 oz, or similar fabrics that will hold shape without being overly stiff. Choosing the right fabric will help achieve the sculptural drape that makes the Coe so distinctive. Please come in to the shop or give us a call if you'd like more help choosing your fabric!

Students should refer to the size chart to determine their size prior to class. If you're between sizes, get enough fabric to make the larger size and Evan can help you decide which size to make during the first class.

Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 4 students to hold the class (if we're not able to run this class you'll be refunded). If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will receive store credit.
