Class: The Basic Tee with Evan (Non-Serger), Wednesdays January 21 & 28, 6-8PM (2 sessions)

Join us to make your new favorite everyday tee! In this class, you’ll sew a classic t-shirt using our very own Lakes Makerie original pattern—designed in-house for the perfect fit and timeless style. This is an ideal next step for beginners looking to expand their skills into sewing with knits.

You do not need a serger for this class! Go here for the version of this class using a serger. 

Skill Level: Advancing Beginner. You need to have sewn a garment, quilt, bag or participated in a beginner sewing class prior to this class and feel comfortable using your machine.

What's Included: We’ll provide everything you need to make your tee!

• 1 yard of Avalon 1x1 Rib Knit (choose from several beautiful colors!)
• Mettler Seraflex thread & bobbin—a stretchable straight-stitch thread that lets you sew knits on your domestic machine without a serger
  
• A twin needle for professional-looking hems and finishes. If your sewing machine isn’t compatible with the twin needle, don’t worry—we’ll show you an alternate method for hemming that still gives beautiful results.
• Printed PDF Pattern

Sizing: Our tee pattern includes a wide size range (equivalent to US XXS-6XL) to accommodate your desired fit—you can size up for a relaxed, boxy look or size down for a closer, more fitted silhouette. Evan will talk you through sizing and have sample shirts in a couple sizes that you can try on in the start of class. 

What You’ll Learn: During class, you’ll learn tips and tricks for cutting, handling, and sewing knits. We’ll walk through every step—from cutting out your pattern pieces to sewing and finishing your seams—and you’ll leave with a completed t-shirt made by you!

Class Fee: The cost of this class is $135. The cost of instruction is $100 and the materials fee (required) is $35.  

What to Bring:

• Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.). Bringing your own machine is encouraged, but studio machines are available—please reach out to info@lakesmakerie.com to reserve one after you register for class. Machines are limited. 
• We recommend that you bring your own fabric scissors 
• Any other sewing tools you like to use at home! 

Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 4 students to hold the class (if we're not able to run this class you'll be refunded). If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will receive store credit.
