Get ready to sew The Rue Quilt Coat from Spaghetti Western—a fun, vintage-inspired coat that combines workwear, relaxation, and a little bit of mischief. 

The Rue Quilt Coat features dramatic curved hems, patch pockets, and bias bound edges and seams.

 

Skill Level: Advancing Beginner. You need to have sewn a garment, quilt, bag or participated in a beginner sewing class prior to this class and feel comfortable using your machine.

 

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to quilt your own fabric
  • How to use bias tape to finish seams for a clean and professional look
  • How to add patch pockets, cuffed sleeves, and a stylish collar
  • The process of basting and quilting with batting

What's Included: 

  • Printed PDF Pattern
  • 72" by 90" bamboo-cotton batting 
  • Use of studio basting spray, waxed tailor's chalk, and all other studio tools 

Class Fee: The cost of this class is $360. The cost of instruction is $300 and the materials fee (required) is $60. 

 

Class Schedule: This is a four session class that runs on Tuesdays January 13, 20, 27, February 3 from 5:30-8:30PM. 

What to Bring:

  • Outer fabric (light to medium weight fabrics recommended), lining fabric, yardage for bias tape. Fabric recommendations from Lakes Makerie below and sizing/yardage requirements from Spaghetti Western in photos. 
  • Coordinating or contrasting thread
  • Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.)
  • We recommend that you bring your own fabric scissors 
  • Any other sewing tools you like to use at home! 

Fabric Recommendations: 

Fableism cottons, Robert Kaufman checks and stripes, cotton flannel, cotton chambrayTilda cottonsPerfect Points cheater quilt prints (this is what our sample is made out of), Birch solid cottons!

Linen and heavier weight fabrics are not recommended

Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 4 students to hold the class (if we're not able to run this class you'll be refunded). If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will receive store credit.
