In solidarity with our community, we are offering this class on a sliding scale with 100% of the proceeds going to Neighborhood House, a non-profit supporting immigrants and refugees on St. Paul’s West Side for over 128 years. Please donate what you can and come sew with us!

In the 1940’s, Norwegians knit and wore red pointed hats as a visual protest of the Nazi occupation of their country. Here at Lakes Makerie, we have adapted the knitted pattern to a sewn version using 1 x 1 cotton rib knit fabric, Seraflex thread, a home sewing machine, a curved ruler, and chalk.

We'll provide all the materials and have shop sewing machines set up with thread and stretch needles for you to use. All you need to bring is yourself and a pair of fabric scissors if you have them (we have some but may not have enough for all students to use at once)! If you'd like to bring your own machine you're welcome to, just send us an email letting us know after you sign up.

Skill Level: Beginner-friendly but highly encouraged that you've used a sewing machine before

Class Schedule: This class will run on Saturday February 7 from 2 - (approximately) 4PM.

Class Capacity: This class is open for 12 students to sign up.

If you cannot be with us in person or simply wish to donate, please follow this link to Neighborhood House's website
