Merchant & Mills, The TN34 Parka PDF Pattern
TN34 is a relaxed and versatile interpretation of the classic fishtail parka. Lined or unlined with a hood or ribbing, it can work for all seasons.
*Please note that this is a new parka pattern which has been redrafted for Merchant & Mills' unisex size range. They have also incorporated the hood into the pattern so no need for the hood addition with this pattern. The TN31 Parka pattern has now been discontinued but the hood addition is still available here.
This is a digital PDF pattern that includes Merchant & Mills unisex sizes XS-3XL.
Skill Level: Advanced
For sizing, finished garment measurements, and fabric requirements see the charts in photos.
Fabric Suggestions: Dry Oilskin, Oilskin (lined version only), tweed, woollens, cotton drill, cotton canvas, waterproofed cotton and linens.
For the lining: Brushed cotton, cotton poplin, or Merchant & Mills barrier lining (for oilskin). The lining choice has to be substantial enough to accommodate buttonholes - this garment was designed for oilskin so the lining prevents oilskin touching the clothing.
For the ribbing neckline, use rib that stretches by half again, ie. 10cm piece stretches to 15cm.
You'll Also Need:
- Matching thread
- Buttons - 6 (7 if making the version with the hood) x approximately 20MM/3/4"
- 3.2M/3 1/2 YD cord for version without hood
- 4.4M/5YD cord for version with hood
- 12CM/6" ribbing for version without hood
- 1.2M/1 1/2YD interfacing (not for oilskin)
