Merchant & Mills, The Edie Top or Dress Paper Pattern
The balloon sleeves of this simple top and dress are the only detail that it requires to stand out. The sleeves are gathered with a tie which is threaded through a buttonhole, alternatively you can omit this buttonhole and insert elastic instead. The Edie has a dropped shoulder. You can also extend the top into a dress – we found that the sleeves looked better a little shorter for a dress version
Our Edie is made up in organic cotton batiste (it would be so lovely in Liberty Tana Lawn). We love the flowy silhouette with statement sleeves that tie at the wrist.
This is a traditional paper pattern in an envelope that comes in 2 separate size ranges: UK6-18 or UK18-28. If you would like a digital PDF version of this pattern, go here.
Skill Level: Intermediate.
For sizing, finished garment measurements, and fabric requirements see the charts from Merchant & Mills in photos.
Fabric Suggestions: Lighter weight woven fabrics, linen and linen blends, poplin, hemp and hemp blends, cotton chambray, Indian handweaves and block prints, tencel and tencel blends. The more structured the fabric the more sculptural your top will look.
Additional Materials: Matching thread.
