Class: Absolute Beginner 4 week Sewing Series with Madee, Starts Monday June 3, 5:30-8 pm (4 sessions)

Desiring to learn the fundamentals at a relaxed pace? This is the perfect class for you! Join Madee Weisner for her Absolute Beginner sewing series on Monday nights! These classes will start from square one and help you build confidence and a good foundation of sewing skills. You don’t need any prior experience to sign up - we’ll cover threading the sewing machine, winding the bobbin, and basic stitching. You will leave this class series with a finished Matchy Matchy Patched Pocket Tote to take home and admire!
The class is constructed into 4 Monday night classes as follows:
Monday June 3rd, 2024 - 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Monday June 10th, 2024 - 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Monday June 17th, 2024 - 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Monday June 24th, 2024 - 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Skills taught include:
- threading the machine
- winding the bobbin
- replacing the needle
- straight stitch and back stitch
- seam allowances
- pinning and marking techniques
- pressing
- Cutting fabric
- working with interfacing
- Following a pattern

Cost of instruction for 4 classes $175, material fee $15 includes stash pocket tote pattern, for a total class fee of $190
What to Bring:
- Thread
- Machine + accessories (foot pedal, bobbin, etc)
- Basic tools are provided in our studio for students. However, feel free to bring your own tools for your personal use.
We recommend bringing your own machine so you can continue to learn the ins and outs of sewing on your home machine! If you need, we offer studio machines to use upon request. Machines are limited. Please feel free to reach out to us at info@lakesmakerie.com for more info.

We will require a minimum of 4 registered students to hold the class. (If we do not hold the class you will be refunded). If you need to cancel later than 1 week before class is held, you will receive store credit.
Madee Weisner is a sewing teacher and a student in MCTC's Apparel Technology program. She also runs Open Studio Sewing, where she teaches classes and private lessons for beginner sewists and up.
