Indian hand-loomed ikats and double ikats in mIndigo blue and white ikat weave. A summer weight dressmaking cotton. Suitable for breezy tops, dresses and loose fitting trousers.

Cotton, 44" (115cm) wide, India

Ikat is a resist dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand.  The Ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding ‘resist’ the dye, creating a design. The more binding done before weaving, the more complicated the pattern.

For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum at 30 or 40 degrees with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running, however Indigo will continue to get lighter over time as it will never truly fix.

Prewash promptly and separately.

Price per full yard is $22.

Price listed is per quarter yard (9" linear), please order in multiples for desired total yardage (example: for 1/2 yard enter "2" for quantity, for 1 1/2 yards enter "6" for quantity). Fabric will be shipped in contiguous, uncut yardage unless otherwise requested.

You can double check your yardage using this chart.
