Class: Sew a Quilted Project Bag with Evan, starts Wednesday August 13, 5:30-8:30PM (2 sessions)
In this class, you’ll make this adorable quilted project bag that Evan drafted himself! This is a great beginner class for sewists who've used their machine before and are looking to learn new skills like quilting and how to install a zipper.
Skill Level: For this class you need to be able to sew a straight line, back tack, sew a zig zag, thread & unjam your machine, and wind your bobbin.
Important: If you’re brand new to sewing (haven't driven or threaded your machine before), we recommend taking either our Meet Your Machine class or our Reversible Napkins class first.
What You'll Learn:
- Basic quilting
- How to install a zipper
- Using bias binding to finish zipper ends and other seams cleanly
- Professional finishing techniques for a polished look
What's Included:
- Nylon-coil zipper
- Batting
- Step-by-step instructions to recreate the project bag at home (video)
- Use of studio tools including spray basting for quilting
Class Fee: The cost of this class is $162. The cost of instruction is $150 and the materials fee (required) is $12 and includes the pattern and all materials listed above.
Class Schedule: This is a two session class, meeting on Wednesday August 13 and Wednesday August 20 from 5:30-8:30PM
What to Bring:
- 1/2 yard fabric for outer fabric (blue fabric in the sample picture), 3/4 yard fabric for inner fabric & binding (pink and yellow floral in the sample picture)

Sewing machine with basic accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbin, etc.). Bringing your own machine is encouraged, but studio machines are available—please reach out to info@lakemakerie.com to reserve one after you register for class. Machines are limited.
